Outside.

Miss Popularity
She's the girl that you love to hate
She's a heart stopping double take
Everyone knows that she's got it made
Workin' hard to be
Miss Popularity

Why did I post those lyrics? Well, they were the best that I could find to go along with my post. If you hadn't already figured out, I always post some song lyrics to start out my blogs. Yeah. I'm creative.

I want to talk about popularity. Get your hand off that mouse. Don't click off this page. Please. Read this. I want this message and my opinion to be known.

What is popularity? To me, it's all about attention. How much attention one receives determines how popular you are. We can all agree on that. Right? I guarntee you have heard of Brad Pitt, but have you heard of Ariana Grande? I bet not. I bet you had to go look her up on Google. Did you do any research about Ariana? She is an extremely talented teenager who stars on Nickelodeon in Victorious. She was also on Broadway in 13. She is just as talented, maybe even more so than Brad Pitt - but a majority of Americans do not know who she is.

This is how I view popularity. You may see it differently, and that's fine. I just think that we need to forget about all of this. I HATE IT. Popularity leads to people becoming egotistical and extremely rude. Do we appreciate that? No. Honestly, the more popular someone becomes, the more I begin to dislike them. I used to be obsessed with the Jonas Brothers when they started their careers. Now, I can't stand them. Popularity changes a person.

I see it in community theater that I participate in. (Elizabeth/Jami - You know what I mean) If someone has a bigger role than someone else, they most likely will start to feel better about themselves and just enjoy all of the attention that they are receiving. It's getting on my nerves. Everyone is talented. There is no need to think of yourself better than anyone.

God made us equal. He does not intend for one person to be better than anyone else. Sure, He has grnated people with special gifts and abilities and even som authority, but this does not mean that we have to show off and brag about what we can do.

I digress.

Peace,
j
